Alright, Ive got about 20kgs of LR thats been standing outside in the garden for 3 years, its all dirty and some of it has plant seedlings growing in it.

How should I go about getting it ready for use again? Boil it?

its no longer LR but Base rock or dead rock... i hosed mine off, but RO water and perhaps bens suggestion of vinegar would be the way to go... the vinegar will chow away at the corraline that had calcified on the rock and will perhaps open it to expose the porus side.. not a bad thing...

Don't you guys think the vinegar might dissolve the rock as well if it is coral skeletons? Seeing it has a similar composition as coralline?

It would but very slow I think... so if it's only a quick dip for a couple of minutes it really shouldn't do much harm
