    Hi guys

My display is 12mm thick glass. I purchased the best magentic cleaner i could find. Which was a bubble magus for 1/4" glass. Set me back about R800.
My tank is new and im really trying to avoid scratches.
What worries me is the magnet on the wetside has a kind of hard velcrow cleaner.
Will it cause scratches in time or should i use a fine cloth between the magnet and the inside of the tank?

it is that hard velcro that cleans up the algae. Without it and you would need a lot more elbow grease to complete the job.

Just don't get sand on the scrubbing pad and it'll be fine.

And go slowly while cleaning, was in a rush the one day and ended up with two scratches :(

Like anything in the hobby(Adiction), TAKE IT SLOW

I always had algae problems on my glass and recently bought a "Flipper" for about 600. This thing works like a charm. It has a fine blade on side and sponge on the other and has a niceway to switch side without putting your hands in the tank.

What would be a suggestion then towards cleaning the outside of the glass?

wouldn't worry to much about scratching the glass. as long as you keep your magnet clean from sand and clean out any debris that could harden. i have an acrylic tank and i use a soft cloth to clean the panes. i do this everyday before algae gets hard

    Yep those ones,

Toilet paper on the other hand tends too break up and stick too the glass, but works if the towel is finished.

absolutely. its the outside of the tank. no use using a blade to scrub of water streaks or drool marks. u can use about anything. even soapy water as long as you don't get it into the tank.

You sure there is no CUC with huge tongues that could sweep and lick the inside of our tanks ?? That would be good !!!;)

I use a bit of vinegar that will dissolve salt and then I use kitchen paper towels to polish glass.
