    Hi all

I added a second cleaner shrimp 2 weeks ago and noticed that one now has eggs. Will they hatch? I have freshwater shrimp in a planted tank and they hatch. Gone from 5 shrimp to about 40 in 4 months.

My marine aquarium has got 3 cardinals and one wrasse, 2 hermits and 3 turbo snails. Basically I would just like to know if they will hatch or not. If they hatch I believe the chance of growing is limited.

Would appreciate your replies as I am new to the hobby.

    Hey @Eben250l,
I have 9 cleaner shrimp in my tank, have eggs every few nights, to succesfully raise these is massive work, I do know they have raised peppermint shrimp, but the larval stage of these are so small you will need Lab like conditions and planktonic food much smaller than Rotifers that are fed to baby clowns, plus a bunch of other factors...
Unfortunately for the average hobbyist all we are doing is adding great live food to our tanks eco systems ;-)

Haha I also have freshwater shrimp in a planted tank, mine seem to explode and then receed back and then explode again for some reason.

To come back to your question, as far as I have heard they do not hatch in captivity, there are very specific needs that are hard to meet, the eggs however serve as food for the fish. My cleaners took VERY long to get eggs, 2 weeks is fast compared to mine.

Cleaner shrimps takes a long time to final adult molt. About 6 months. By then in our tanks, the fish or pumps or overflow took them out.

But they are nice live food for your fish.
