    Hi All

I put a small clam into my tank last week. I believe it is a maxima clam. I put him on the bottom of my tank and he was doing great. Always open showing beautiful colours, not gaping, very alert and responding to the cut out of light.

The clam has been moving itself slowly off the rock on which it came over the last couple of days.

This morning when I had a look at the clam I see it was lying on its side and the byssal muscle was left behind on the rock itself.

Can someone please advise if my clam is gonners or is this the natural way that clams would get around the tank and move to a place where they feel more comfortable?

    Thank you!

Yes he is. He still closes when my yellow tang glides over him.

Do you think the clam dropped off itself or was it pushed?
As long as its mantle is still extended then it shuld be ok. Can you post a pic of the clam and what it left behind on the rock?

Also post a pic of the clam so we can id it. That way you can place it in an appropriate place in your tank so that it doesnt decide to move again.

It dropped off itself. I have nothing my tank that would harm the clam. The mantel is still extended.
    Please see the pics.
