So Idol Marine delivered our brand new 400litre tank last week!

Spent most of yesterday leveling the tank and installing bracing on the wall to hold the brackets for the lights to hang from. (We rent the place we currently live in so no drilling into the ceilings for me) RO unit has been flat out since then and tank is now about 1/3 full.

Idol Marine have done a great job on the display and sump. I saved a bit of cash and decided to do the wiring myself. Opted not to go with a DB board for now as I don't like the idea of losing the warranty on all my brand new toys so will consider that at a later stage.

Breakdown of the gear as it stands (all purchased from Idol Marine):
    Tank: 120L x 70W x 480H
    Sump: 104L x 28W x 400H
    Skimmer: Reef Octopus DNW 150
Bio pellet reactor: Reef Octopus BPR110 (have not bought the pellets yet as I am waiting for payday):( - any recommendations on these?
    Return pump: Halia HX6550 (5,580l/h)
    Flow pumps: 2 x SICCE V8(12000L/h 18w)
    Heater: Jager 300W
    Auto-top-off
Lighting: Odyssea T5 / Metal halide combo

Having a bit of an issue with the lights not working so going back to Idol Marine in the week to get that sorted. Otherwise will continue filling with water and hopefully will get the pump on by Wednesday.

Plan is then next Sat to get the salt mix in and add some base and live rock. - Planning on using a mixture of base rock from Idol Marine and live rock to seed it. Contemplating going with some black / grey aragonite medium sized. (will add this once the rock is in as will probably aim for around a 3cm layer for now)

Will cycle for 4-5weeks getting a short lighting cycle going by around week 3 I think. and then the real fun begins!

Will try add more pictures as things progress! Please tell me if I am being an idiot, have been running my TL550 for about 2 years now so have a good base of knowledge in the hobby but appreciate everyone's input! (planning to keep my Boyu going as a quarantine tank but will see how this goes - having to do water changes on both might become a bit of a pain!)

Looking very nice just remember no lights while cycling to prevent early alge blooms. And welcome to MASA.

    Very nice!

That's a great looking sump. Is that a drip tray I see there?

Thanks everyone, sorry for my appallingly late reply. I have pics though which i hope will make up for it!

Tank is now full and Seachem Aquavitro salt added over the last two days. (I hope this will be worth it as bankrunptingly expensive) We decided not to go with ATI 8xT5 Sunpower lighting with ATI tubes:
    2x Actinic
    2x purple plus
    2x Aquablue special
    2x Coral plus

We are planning on running a mixed reef but to be honest have not decided whether SPS or LPS will be the focus I have never kept SPS before and am a little nervous so was thinking of running LPS with some softies for a while before potentially venturing into the world of SPS. Anyone have any views on the bulb config above?- I asked for the option to swap some out if i wanted so have a week to make that call. Feeling it might be a little too blue focused? not enough white light for good coral growth?

Getting the substrate and live & base rock next weekend to get this thing cycling. Picked up the NP reducing pellets but haven't loaded them into the reactor yet. Planning on getting this running at the same time as adding the live rock and substrate next weekend.

Dosed stability today but forget to buy more so will have to pick up some next weekend as well. will dose this for 7 days from next weekend.

For now we are very happy with the whole setup, its a big change from my little Boyu TL550! Very much enjoying the process of setting up.

Thanks for all the comments guys, glad to share the journey!

    Cheers

Sorry meant we didn't go with the T5 halide combo, went with the ATI Sunpower T5's instead:)

Hey RocketRooster. Sump sits on one slab of glass on a polystyrene base with wiring hidden in conduit around the perimeter. Think Idol Marine do this on all their systems - looks very neat.
