    so , i have 2 huge fans running on my tank most of the day
    the room my tank in is very very hot and nowadays my tank starts at 25 degrees in the am and some hot days , rises to 28/29 ( not great)
    i am now looking at the idea of a chiller
    my question is , can i place the chiller at the bottom of my tank , next to sump , behind closed doors ?
    my concern is the heat the chiller generates , will it be running 24/7 ?
    ill attach a pic of cabinet so you can see- chiller would go on the right hand side

    if the chiller is spec'd right it shouldnt run 24/7, i woould also set it to start at 26° then it will cool to 25 and run less often etc.

    as for the heat it generates, just make sure there are 2 vents, one on top and one at the bottom as natural convection current will take care of the rest

    if you have a vent at the top of the cabinet, and avent at the bottom, i mean hole :)

    then the hot air will leave thru that, drawing in the colder air from the bottom

    :whistling::whistling::whistling::lol::lol: my bad !!

    well .. the back of the tank is totally open and the top of the cabinet open as well !
    there is a gap at the back of the tank about 15cm where air could escape
    what ya think ?

    that should be cool, just place the chiller to the exshaust points that direction.
    if you find its still a little toasty back there, as a small pc fan to keep the sir moving

    Bud we have lots of chillers in cabinets. However you need to get the hot air out else you will cook the compressor. We normally turn the chiller so that the back of the chiller faces the side of the cabinet. We then add fans directly behind the radiator, two 120mm fans for the hailea H500 and four 120mm fans for the H1000 to suck out the hot air.

    Mate I got my chiller because I had the exact same problem and my tank is now at around 25 constantly. The room gets toasty but the tank is constant.....within reason. It was, at one stage, going from 25 in the evening to 31 / 32 by the afternoon. Unfortunately my entire house is a very warm house with loads of windows so it could not be helped.

    One of the best purchases I made.
