Hi Qaiser when stratying up I would not get anything except salt and RO water to get the tank up and running and let the cycle start do not ad anything to the system except your substrate and the live rock. And would not add any chemicals or buffers to the tank as it is a fish only system. Remember never dose what you dont test just my 2c

Dont let pet shops fool you into buying all these expensive additives and chemicals. For a FOWLR system I wouldn't add anything as water changes should take care of this...

MOst decent LFS sell RO water, but if you can, rather fork out the extra cash and buy your own RO unit..works out alot cheaper in the long run.

Dont use tap water as it is full of phosphates. You wont need chemicals providing you do regular water changes of about 10 percent per week. You will also need a decent skimmer

Qaiser: R/O(Reverse Osmosis) unit is used to filter out all the thing you don't want in the tap water and they are the following,
    chlorine
    fluoride
    pollutants
    minerals
    metals
if you can get a good unit and a good quality salt for FOWLR that's all you gonna need, and like what Nemo's Janitor said a good quality Test kits,

    GOOD LUCK

Qaiser when buying your RO water ask the LFS owner or who ever is assisting you to test the TDS of the water...If the TDS is more the 5 do not buy that water...

Well it depends. How big is your total system volume and do you have any idea how big your bio-load is going to be(number of fish).Reef Octopus/Reeftek are great value for money skimmers.

P.S. Remember to purchase a bigger quality skimmer as it would last you a long time as suppose to upgrading often.;)
