    Hi,

Im currently using the New Tetra salt. Is the additional cost of Tropic Marin worth it.

Impossible to give a definitive answer. Tetra have a reputation to protect, but do they have the expertise to offer a top grade salt. I can no longer afford Tropic Marine and have been pleasantly surprised with the Tetra option. No brown ash precipitate that worried me, as seen in some of the other brands tried recently. Calcium/alkalinity good

No doubt though that Tropic Marine is a quality product.

i found the moisture content in TM is way lower (15-25%) than the other brands, so keep this in mind when comparing prices.

Have found TM to be the most consistent in parameters

I was going to say the same about the Moisture in the TM salt. I have been using tetra for a while and very happy with it. You use 1kg of salt for 25 litres of water at a SG of 1.025. SO a 100 litre water chane will cost about R170-00 bucks, which isn't too bad

The only thing I don't like with the tetra salt is that all 20kg's are in 1 container. Would have been nice if is was 4 x 5kg packages. Was doing some reading about the Tunze salt mix, were they had problems and it turned out that in the transport that the heavier elements settled at the bottom and the lighter ones at the top, so the guys that did not mix up the salt before they use it did had problems.

So the same thing will apply to the Tetra salt, so guys please mix it before you use it.

From the replies I read so far - I guess if Tera works for me I may aswell stick to it.
