    Hi all:wave2:,
I'm in the process of removing all the ceramics & bioballs from my sump and replacing with chaeto. I've removed some ceramics last week and added the chaeto already as per the advice i got, my question is over what period should i remove all the ceramics and bioballs so that it does not cause any spikes in my tank?
Any & all advice much appreciated

Devide the "stuff" into four and remove a quarter each week or week and a half

They do the same type job, but just for your own peace of mind, remove the same amount of each that equals to a quarter of the whole lot - if you know what I mean :p

I was overhearing a conversation that one would want to take about a handful per week and in doing so it allows them to remain in action and Chaeto to grow accordingly, then there is no chance of a spike and it is again one of those slow action things which is accomplished over time.

Once I've removed all ceramics & bioballs, would it be ok to add few small pieces of LR in the same compartment as the chaeto? it's not very big, same setup as in marinenoob's post "My New 4FT".

You can put chaeto in that compartment but you'll need a light. If there is live rock in their as well, the chaeto might get stuck to it, then you'll need to turn the chaeto occationally to ensure even light on all sides. Otherwise put only chaeto in there, might spin slowly with the water travelling through.
