Caulerpa going sexual

    Got a question here can some1 explain to me in detail what it means caulerpa going sexual because im running a refugium. thx:m03:

    It means they make babies...spores etc make it into your water....and before you know it...it grows all over your display like a weed...

    What type of caulerpa do you have? Bubble caulerpa goes sexual very fast if you dont trim it regulary. If they get to long and to wide it goes sexual.

    viper thx for the article but it doesn't say how to prevent it except for trimming it back IV got the long leave 1,did this happen to any1 on this forum when it releases spores into the water?

    As far as I know, this is the only way to try and prevent it, constant removal.

    Iv'e also read that having a 24 hour light cycle will prevent it from going sexual.

    Fern types do not go sexual that easily, compared to the bubble types.

    So, first, what type caulerpa do you have?
