Hennie, First person I have heard using Caulerpa. Does this macro have benefits over the safer species.

Until recently this was all that was available in South Africa, and we all used it. My tank is quite large, and the "algae filter" is an important part of my nutrient export system. I am planning to change to chaetomorpha in the near future, but will only be able to do so when I can obtain a large enough supply of chaeto to replace the caulerpa in one go.

Hmmm, yes, it's more readily available... other than that, and that the various species look quite nice in a display tank (not recommended, though, as they can over grow a tank quite quickly...), there are no advantages over chaetomorpha that I know of.

Good morning Hennie

thanks for the answer. I keep the algae in my sump. I have had the same problem, can't get Chaeto.

Haven't had to do any pruning yet, but will keep your advice in mind about how to trim this algae

thanks

off-topic - Warren, my apologies, I will be posting your Chaeto off to you today.
