    Hi All,

i am looking for some suggestions, in my new setup which is the best way to run, best can be seen as easy, less maintenance etc but top of the list is stability in water.

I have a brand new CarX which i understand how it works, which ideally should be setup to run during the day, then at night use kalk to balance out the PH, then i have a 4 channel dosing pump.... which should be dosing a 2 part Ca, Alk and Mg mix

what is the best way, what should i leave out?
i am planning on keeping 70% SPS, 20% LPS and 10% zoas and shrooms etc
i would like the perfect mixed reef setup

Hey. I rate you just use the dosing pumps. It is more precise and will work perfectly. It is hard to control carx and kalk perfectly. Also a lot can go wrong with these. Dosing pumps you set and forget for 6 months until the solution runs out.

Unless you keep the carx and run it as a magnesium reactor because dosing magnesium on dosing pumps is ridiculous. It needs like 0.3L per day.

Actually that wrong. The magnesium is in reef code A or B. It was the potassium that was a problem for me but you can't dose potassium with a carx

I just changed my Co2 bottle yesterday....must say i had things pretty dialed in (finally). What I did noticed was that the PH returned to its normal range (8.1-8.4). Previously was 7.9 - 8.2. What I have thought of doing is to shut the CARX down late after noon and then use the doser to chuck in Calcium Hydroxide at night to push it up again.

I've been dosing a kalk slurry manually in the evening for the last 3 evenings...was concerning to see how quickly that PH can can jump (PH Meter) and as quickly as that, settles down again.

All in all i'm happy with both the CARX and my doser.

Dosing pumps are awesome, I run a AM quad doser, life is great!
Just check levels now and then and just step up or down the dose!
