Eeesh dude, please research before you buy. Dendronephthya is basically impossible to keep for longer than a few months. Take it back to the LFS, get a refund and tell them not to import them. These need a highly specialised tank with 24/7 feeding of phytoplankton.

They need a lot of attentions!!

BUT if you are up to it, here are some pointers out of the experiences (started before the fire) of one of my customers:
    1. Ensure you have top quality filtration
    2. Get all the different micro coral foods you can your hands on
    3. Feed them MOSTLY at night (for him it is easy, he work NIGHT-SHIFT at home so he is there and awake the whole night) with a variety every time
    4. switch the filter off when you feed and limit circulation as well. Wait 10 to 15 minutes and switch them on again
    5. Do this regularly (he say 4 to 5 times) through the night till you see the coral "shrink" and stop for that night.
    6. Then do it all over tomorrow night

As you can see it is possible but the price (time) is too high for me ;)

PS. he need to do 15% water changes weekly and some weeks even more and have an extremely large and healthy filter and large skimmer.

Cool, good move. If the LFS protests then ask him to show you one older than 6 months.

That is what I would suggest as well. Pet Shops that are not in this to make a fast buck NEVER order them in, but sometimes they are used as fillers in boxes by the suppliers that battle to sell them to honest shops. So an good shop will understand your concerns and change it for another similarly prices coral, that is if they did not tell you of the special need and you decided to take it against their advise anyway. Then you should understand their reluctance to do an exchange.

agreed a coral for experts and specialists only , dedication is essential to keeping this alive long term but it is not impossible to keep, there is an australian reefkeeper who has them even reproducing in this aquarium, he uses NSW weekly and add live artemia constantly to the aquarium.
