Hey guys,

My Monti frag is looking slightly pale and has been in the tank now for 6 weeks, I kinda thought it would start to grow quickly and colour up but I dont see much happening on it. Does it require anything special, ALK/CA seems fine. Are there any conditions under which it doesnt do well? Also the 'white' edges have been at 90 degrees to the rest of the plate since I got it, based on all the pictures I've seen its supposed to be on the same plane as the plate itself?

So in short... what are your experiences in caring for one?

Thanks!

Hi Elrond what lighting have you got in your tank ?

Montipora species are generally the easier SPS corals to keep. They like medium flow and adapt to varying lighting conditions. But as with most SPS species they require pretty strong lighting.
Where did you get this frag from ?

Dragonreef,

I have 3xblue t5's (14k I think) and 3xwhite(10k), my only concern is that my tank is 750mm deep and the frag is maybe sitting at 600mm deep. I'd rate the flow as medium, I have 2xSeio M1100's and 1xSeioM820, so thats a tank turn over of about 24x ? The specific area its located is low/medium.

by the way, montis do tend to frow in different directions and may bend and grow into another direction as to what it originally was, this is due to differnt lighting conditions and flow.
