My opinion is carbon in a reactor, as there is much more time for the media to flow over the carbon, my 2c

Both work. If using the bag put in a high flow area. I use 2 carbon bags and change 1 bag every 2 weeks. Use a good quality carbon as the cheaper ones dont work too good. Im using the Seachem Matrix Carbon and seems to work well.

cool man i get carbon from marco seems to be okay. The reason i ask is cos i currently have my carbon in a bag and want to use a reactor.

@Suhayl - can you tell me why it should be in a high flow area...?

The water has to flow through the bag with the carbon for the carbon to work properly. Put it in the first chamber inside the sump where the water enters into the sump. Remember to wash the carbon before use, and change at least every month.
