Please ad your support here if you agree but I am tired of seeing the same old fish every time I go to the various LFS in Cape Town...

Why can't we get something different for a change? The guys in... I don't even want to say the "J" word... are getting really cool stuff? Why can't we?

I'm talking yellow spotted boxfish, pipefish, sharks, etc. etc. etc.

Please ad here if there are any other fish you would like to see in the beautiful Mother City...

I seen pipe fish, box fish and sharks recently....... 1stly there isn a market for it really, so all lfs's works with special orders, if u want it, they'll get it for you, but think of them if fish dnt survive,or don't sell..... Hence the special order system.... Box fish is a sAms aquariums special, they always have dem avail ..... Perky pets had a shark just lastweek an even a stingray ..... Exotic reefs also from time to time bring in exotic fish an crustaceans an then we have Elite aquatics who also brings in pretty awesum rare fish an crabs an so on.....

Agreed , Having imported some rare stuff myself cause there was a "need" or request and then have them in the tanks for ages does doesnt pay the bills.

Also people like seeing and wanting the rare and exotic stuff ....not necessarily paying for them unfortunately :p

Agreed, if you want something special, do your research, ask a LFS to get you one, pay a deposit(at least) and then wait until they get it for you.

We are making lfs aware of what we would like to purchase. ordering without knowing price or if it will be obtained is like giving a person a blank cheque without assureance that they can or will deliver

If they sell hundreds of clowns and tangs a month don't you think they will easily sell a couple of rare fish? Look how fast the shark and ray you guys are refering to sold... You cannot be a very good businessman if you cannot see that one rare fish costs less to import and can sell for more...???

You are one to talk... Those fish you refer to (shark and ray) were sold out from under your nose and they were not even special order...

Pick a side and stick to it...

i went to a lfs i know and asked them the price on clown gobies and availability. the answer was that thwy are cheap and available especially the yellow ones and black ones. i placed an order and will hopefully recieve on the seventh of september. to those who want to sell only the supposed fast lines will never know how much business they are losing.

ps jusplayin livestock worth having does not stay on the shelf but is sold very quickly if correctly priced
and i dont mean giving it away. just ask any of the serious reefers and you will find them willing to pay good money for good stock. i dont mind paying a hundred rand a polyp for an exeptional zoa etc.ps i dont feel the same way about spses tho

I agree... Any "good businessman" will know you cater for the masses (cheap) but you also cater for the specialist (expensive)... That way you cover the WHOLE market... :whistling:

    Hi Cos

I couldnt agree more, so I often end up at SA Reefkeeing in Claremont and they always have something different and rare on every shipment and at amazing prices too.
