Looking at a Xmas present for myself. I have being waiting for the 5D 111 but it is quite expensive. I see the 6D is out. is the 5D worth the extra R10k?

d600 looks like the better option, just like the d800 is a bit better and cheaper than the 5d iii

I would wait for proper reviews and samples of the 6D before ordering. I like the look of its spec sheet. Whether the 10K extra is worth it depends on what you are planning on shooting. The focussing of the 5D3 is much better than the 6D on paper and more frames per second if that is important to you. Personally I feel the 6D would be a great fullframe camera for the photo enthusiast.

Marius i want to use it mainly for underwater shooting. I do quite a bit of video with my fuji and stills with my Canon 350D. I want to get a camera that has great video and can still take stills. Cant take two cameras down.

I have a couple of good canon lenses so I don't see me changing to Nikon soon.

As I understand it the 6D will not hit the shelves until Christmas 2012, so if you are in a hurry you will have better luck with the 5D3 or a 7D even.

I must say GPS is very nice if you are into cataloguing your photos at all... WiFi is nice when you shoot in the field or at home and are getting tired of swopping SD cards to download photos. And with WiFi you can remote control the whole camera with an iPad / iPhone.

I have recently purchased a Nikon D800E, 24-120mm F4 and 105mm VR Macro lenses and returned it the very next day. I preferred my Canon 5D Mark III. And this was not an ergonomics issue - i.e. that I am used to Canon's layout and controls and not Nikon's.

I wrote on my experience here.

I have the canon 7D and its an amazing camara
I don't know if the 5D is worth the money and It doesn't take other lenses except canon.
Nikon is nice but alot more technical
