    Too much.

You can get this on outdoorphoto

You get the 350D body and body cap
EF-S 18-55mm with front and rear caps
    2x 2GB CF cards
Two batteries 1 Original and 1 Uniross
    Original Camera strap
    The original charger
    USB Cable
    AV out Cable
    Manual

    All for R2000.

But if you budget is over the R3500 mark en maybe check to see if you cant get a 500D maybe. Will check if there are any.

In my opinion it will be worth it. It can take better quality pics in lower light levels and uses a lot newer technology. The older you buy now the sooner you might want to replace it again.

350D is a wonderful camera.... Only thing is, it is old and it could have a lot of actuations, meaning the shutter could be at the end of it's lifespan

I have a 350D and still love it. Have often looked at upgrading to a 550D or 600D and have just never felt that the "extras" are worth it. The 30D you were playing with is a league above the xxxD range of Canon camera's and is something I have always wanted to have.

The camera itself is just one piece of the puzzle. The correct lenses and proper technique are what make the photos. Go and take a look at outdoorphoto.co.za and you will see that even the old and lowly 300D's in the right hands can take photo's that make pictures from a 5D in a beginners hands look silly.

only thing is that beginners with 5D's are rather few and far between :p so most of the images poduced with the 5D line look awesome on most forums, but i am sure it has nothing to do with the incredible image quality the 5D is famous for.
