canister filter

    hi guys

    I have a question relating to canister filters, I have one connected to my nana (boyu tl55) it is filed with coral chips, is that going to be a problem in the long term?, do i need to clean it?

    Regis,

    The coral chips (depending on how fine they are) will collect detritus in time and become a nitrate factory . You do need to clean out the canister on a regular basis.

    I would suggest you clean out the canister once a week when doing your water changes.

    Regis. I would remove all of that coral chips from the canister and replace it with pieces of LR and Po4 media aswell as Carbon.
