My candy cane was doing stunning untill a hairy, soft brown growth and some white things (little round blown boddies with hairy mouth) is growing on it. Two of the polips do not open for the last week or so...the coral is not in direct current, but might sit to low. Can anyone help please

That's a strange growth, I haven't seen that before. Is it like a mat that is growing up the stalks or is it individual little things?
It's individual soft things that has a muddy feel to it - I tried to clean it off with my fingers - the candy heads opened the next day, but has a dark clouration on it (like a tomato going off). The cany looks Ok, but it also seems as the strange growth is coming back...
In the first pic those are sponges, Scypha or pineapple sponges, which should not worry the cane
