I always get the common names spaghetti and medusa worm mixed up.... but it's one of those. Whatever you want to call it, it's a beneficial little worm (scavenger/detrivore).

Agreed, if it's "alive" and retracts when bothered. If not, it is probably some type of filamentous brown algae - also beneficial, IMHO.

thanks for the replies. spaghetti worm it is. it moved about 20cm in two days.
