@danimal, you are 100% correct.

The kit comes with thermal adhesives so I'm going to be using that. It's time for me to practice my soldering skills :p

No, the LED's, drivers etc are coming from: ReefLEDLights | LED Aquarium Lighting « Reef Aquarium Lighting ReefLEDLights | LED Aquarium Lighting
The actual LED's aren't that much cheaper than buying locally but the drivers are A LOT cheaper so I bought the whole lot from the USA.
The heatsink came from: www.heatsinkusa.com/
Took a week and a half for the heatsink to get here so if the LED's come the same route USPS priority should have about a week to go for the LED's... can't wait for the "twinkle" effect :thumbup:

So I bought the 12x creed LED kit (12 Cree XP-G R5 Cool white, 12 Cree Royal Blue, thermal paste, 2x dimmable drivers etc) for $221 (with shipping)
Heat sink 5.886" Wide x 20" Long Heatsink for $81 (with shipping)
Not cheap but I'm hoping that I'll have fun with building the lights and get a great effect afterwards

Awesome DIY project Thane!

Please upload loads of pics!!!!!!

Those prices are not bad! I thought you had to import the heatsink, as you battle to find anything in decent sizes (150 x 200 +)

Hi @lIghty.
I had to import the heatsink. As you said, to find decent sized heatsinks here is almost impossible.
Will defiantly be posting pics as the products arrive and the project carries on

How are you going to drive the LEDs, some sort of microcontroller.

I'm not quite sure I understand you @lIghty but I'll try and answer you...
I have bought two "drivers", 1x for the white LED's and 1x for the Blue LED's. If you are interesed the model numbers are: LPC-35-700 and LPC-60-1050 - they are both mean well products
