Hi guys. To my understanding a calsium reactor works best with a kalkstirrer.

Long run i would like to have both, but for starters i would start with the stirrer.

I found the following on the bet, and it looked to me like a good starting point. Any commments?

basically the 2 compliment one another the Cal reactor (calcium bicarbonate) depresses ph (because of the use of co2 to dissolve the media) and should be run in the day when the ph is naturally at its highest and the kalk stirrer (calcium hydroxide) increases ph so it should be run at night when the co2 levels rise naturally causing the ph to drop

so in short the one counteracts the others negitive effect..

    hope this makes sence..

    Tnx!

Yeah, thats more or less what I understood from the web.

So my first question is this then. In the first diagram it shows how to connect a kalk stirrer via your auto topup. But ideally we would like to run the Kalk Stirrer at night.

How will you achieve this, through your auto topup?
I thought about reversing the auto topup swith, and switching the pump on only at night, and it should then switch off when the sump has reached the lvl of the switch.
    If this makes any sense?

Just add the ATU to a timer that only kicks in in the late evening early morning, you will know it is working if the water level in the RO resivior is depleting

R = the seal or connection joint to join pipework to the body of the reaction chamber?

you could make this easier by making the reactors square, or out of glass and using pvc fittings but for a radius you would probably need to have parts machined to obtain a snug fit..

one can also make it out of glass as a combination RO chamber and kalk
basically all the unit does is stir the water every 15-30min to re-mix the kalk that has precipitated out of solution

MMMM auch, for that price it may be better to buy the bloody thing :D

What other options do you have for this then?
Make it square as Leslie advised?
That should make some things a bit easier, but it just does not look that good....
