I've always just used RO to calibrate my refractometer - but ive read that using calibration fluid at 35ppt is a better more accurate option.
If my tank is 1.026 specific gravity from calibrating using just RO at room temperature should I be concerned and try find calibration fluid to be more accurate or just leave it

I found a thread here on Masa by nemo janitor on how to make 35ppt calibration fluid. Interestingly when i calibrated with that fluid i got the exact same salinity reading for my reef tank - ie both the RO and calibration fluid gave me the same result

Yup, I've done that comparison too, both readings were the same so I don't bother with calibration fluid anymore as RO water seems to work fine.
