Calcium test kit

    i have a Sera Ca test kit that said yesterday that the my Ca is 300 so i added double dose of Ca tested again today and it said the same whats happening is it the test kit or the Ca

    It could be either but my money is on the kit being faulty, when it comes to Calcium testing stick to Tropic Marin.

    oops i have got a sera kit! mine seems to work alright but i have nothing to compare it to

    What product do you use for calcium and how much is a double dose?

    Its Kent Marine Liquid Calcium and it says 10ml for this and i put in 20ml

    I used this calculator on your water volume (roughly 360 litres)

    Reef Chemistry Calculator

    and from it 36ml will raise your calcium by 10ppm so 20 mls will only raise it by about 6ppm. Your test kit can probaly not distinguish this amount on the scale.

    You will need to add about 360ml of this product to raise your calcium levels to 400ppm.

    I would suggest adding 50ml/day until you reach this level

    that while cost R300 and to mantain it, would be so costly is there a cheaper product or is that no ok to do?

    There are products available that are a lot cheaper.
