Looking for recommendations for a calcium reactor for a 2500 litre tank.

I've never run a carx before so would appreciate first hand recommendations and which ones are easier and more reliable to use.

    Yep..Go Deltec or go home...lol
seriously though if you gonna go with a carx then go with quality. I had other carx brands and always suffered to dial it in..always loosed the sweetspot, but my deltec was set and forget...

From my experience and trust me I have had experiences - you want one that has a thumb screw lid and not a acrylic glued lid.

Why: say for some reason a valve blows on your C02 bottle or I don't know you jet lagged and turn up the C02 valve ;) (I did this) the acrylic glue lids just blow off the top of the reactor and are impossible I fix.

The thumb screwed lids just force the C02 back out the line ..... Better than blowing the entire reactor.

I had a reef octo the biggest baddest one you can buy an unfortunately kabooooom now have a JNS one as it was the quickest one u could buy and I must say its doing well :)

Also tip get the right size spec one for your tank, I had the monster reef octo for 3500l my tank is 700l and I was getting tons of C02 coming through the effluent. Just think about it..... Amount of C02 required to dissolve 10kg of calcium and 4kg of magnesium.

In addition I would suggest you get a reactor that gives you some extra chambers to run the effluent through to reduce the undiscovered C02 you do t want that stuff in your tank as it drops your ph like you can't believe ...

    Just some of my experiences

    Thanks for the responses.

What does the Deltec cost more or less in SA? At 850 pounds that would convert to about R12,000 before duties.

I've also looked at the RO CR-3000 and the Aqua Medic KR-5000.

I'll be running the reactor off an Aquarium Plants electronic co2 regulator so don't need regulator, bubble counter, etc. I have a controller and co2 bottle.

    CarbonDoser Electronic Co2 Regulator

Just looking for a reliable reactor unit without having to sell a kidney for it.

I'm also looking into this regulator any other peeps with this regulator on their CARX setup please share some experience. Are they any good and worth the money?

I did buy one and gave it a try but I found that the actual bubble count (I kept a bubble counter on to double check how the regulator worked) was not as per the setting. After a couple of months I gave up and reverted to the standard saga regulator which works just fine.

I ended up giving the regulator away to some else to try.
