While I was away for a few days my wife discovered one of the button polyps eating what looks like one of my reg legged hermit legs.

The piece of leg sticking out gradually got shorter. The leg is gone now, polyp open and happy.

Its amzing how those polyps eat anything that can fit in their polyps(mouths). Got some mushroom frags today and dropped the one,(its double the size of the polyp) and it landed on the polyp colony. The polyp tried to eat a mushroom. if you target feed them some mysis they spread and grow like nuts.

Hermits molts = sheds there skin. So, the button polyps is just cleaning your tank by eating the skin.

I know crabs molt, and that button polyps will try to eat just about anything. I've just never actually seen a polyp catch and eat a crab molt myself and thought others might find the photo of interest as well.
