    Hi guys
So it seems i am not coming right with finding a cubed tank of my desired size.
So im thinking of building one myself:eek:That way i can get what i want ant the way i want it:thumbup:

    Tank Size is 650x650x550

Things i would like to know:

I have got a quote on my glass:
    Standard Clear Float Glass

    • 10mm for the sides
    • 12mm for the base
R955 for all the Glass?worth it or too expensive

    Is the above sufficient enough?
Will the tank have a green look to it once filled and stocked or not really?

    Starfire Glass

    • If i go this route i will only do the 3 viewing panels.
    • I await their price still, they said its going to cost me a lot more
    Stand

    • Any good cheap stand makers here that wont cost me my other arm and leg?:p
    Sump

    • Will do a a basic 3 part sump with Return, refugium and skimmer
    • What thickness glass could i use here?
    Plumbing

    • Will make a corner overflow or a slimline overflow but i do not want any pipes visible outside the tank or Cabinet.
    Cabinet

    • Will do this once all is up and running
    • Do you think it will be too heavy once filled to leave the steal structure and use a super wood structure?
    Thanks
All advice will be really appreciated

Exact same size cube as mine, please have a look at my tank thread,on there you will see the overflow that RiaanP suggested, he also added a pic there...I'm changing mine to that now also.
I think that's a decent price for the glass, I didnot use satrfire and no green on 10mm glass.
Are you going rimless or will it be braced? 10mm glass is ok for rimless also but if u wana be really safe, go 12mm.
Another option for overflow is a hole bang in middle of base and pipe runs up into ur tank, ur rockwork is built around the pipe so u do not see it. It looks awesome.

If u will have 3 viewing sides, corner overflow will be kaka I think.

Also, with overflow, watch ur eventual water height, mine ended up a bit too high and have to sort this out nw

    Good luck bra

If you check my threads I have got one exactly that size, just a bit higher, for sale with sump but no stand. It has a full width skinny overflow and is all 12mm glass, 15mm base, 8mm false bottom.

If your costing the build, the correct aquarium silicone will cost you R600, MEK solvent R150, plumbing about R500, stand has got be in steel as she is hellish heavy full, I built mine extra heavy for R800 but my welder chum is now up Africa that's why I'm keeping mine. The cabinet is fitted after the build, a cheapie will cost you R500. Then you've got to add all the petrol running around collecting this and that, taking that piece back because its the wrong size. Hours of your time, which can be spent sorting out all the other stuff.

My Tank and Sump, NO STAND R4500 CASH, collected.

Exactly the same size, new one will be in sapphire glass. It's ordered and due next week so this one will be available in two three weeks. It looks amazing, I am changing the design slightly to Lose the Vortech as my thread. Thanks

@The Newbie, starphire glas in those sizes will be nothing less than R3000... (For 3 starphire & 2 floatglass panes!
    Got a quote 3weeks ago for a bit smaller cubes glass & was R2750 for 1x sparphire & 4xfloatglass panes (8mm sides & 12mm bottom)...

I'm keen on building at this stage as the price of some of the tank are just way to high and I'm on a tight budget
