    Got some spare wooden pallets lying around? You can make a cheap stand for your aquarium...

    Wood is strong, but add moisture... Eish

    South African pine is too soft, our trees grows too fast. European pine / colder countries pine grows lot slower. 80 years VS 8 to 10 years in SA.

    If the first pic the stand fitted under the tank, then it could maybe work. But the tank is just inside the vertical support.

    even with moisture, who says use pine? i have a maranti stand with on coat varnish and 3 years looks like the day it was made.

    Meranti will work, good option. Especially when treated properly.

    they were behind me 100%, and by that i mean behind me so that i didnt make them carry and protected them from shrapnel

    Most of the stands I've had are pine, including my newest one. Just cover well with a good varnish like Woodoc and they'll be completely fine.
