    Hi Guys,

My inferno split after my tank move to my new place. He's hidden himself behind the rocks in the dark now and hasn't come out for almost a week. I managed to slip in a piece of fish behind the rock which he did grab and eat.

Will he eventually come out after he's recovered from the split? Should I try move him?

    Hi Trevs

What I've founded out on bubble tip anemones splitting are, they split due to overfeeding, flow and stress. When they do split they do sometimes hide underneath the rock, if they accept food after splitting this is a great sign. The anemone will eventually come out, do not try to move him as this will only cause more stress on the anemone. Also don't feed more than once a week and make sure the piece of food aren't too big for it's mouth to consume.

another reason why they split is because they are totally happy and feel conditions are potentially worth splitting for.

Mine did the same. split, one half stayed put, the other moved in deep into the rock works for about a month. Did not feed it as I could not reached it. Eventually he came out to the top of the rock stack.

Mixed views, mostly are due to some sort of stress that's what I've notice keeping BTA for years.

Here is a link on reef central as well.

love how people are so attracted to the negative side of things imo if a BTA isn't growing and splitting it isn't happy. If they get too big they split, Mine has split several times due to sheer size. It split again beginning of the year, I expect it to split again in two months, as it has done since the day I bought it in 2013.

Mine split 3 ways as got 3 times it size they hid for a month except the one, which stayed put they out now but the smaller one still hides a lot comes out now and then. Give them time to settle and don't try feed until their mouth parts have formed.

Thanks for the advice everyone! She's still hiding but from what little of her I can see she looks pretty happy (not shriveled), hopefully she'll 'come towards the light' soon.
