    I'm really interested.
But a bit more information would help a lot in convincing me to buy it.

the rifle takes your std pellet. and is a break barrel design.
i seem to recall it shoots at 1000fps, and is incredibly accurate.
    wooden stock.

    its a good looking rifle

BSA is a very well known manufacturer of air rifles. a trusted name.

i'll get pics up by the end of today

Its pretty much brand new, bought it at sharp shooter in Sandton.
    shoots at over 1000fps
and for an air rifle give a nice little kick!
it takes a std pellet (.177 i think) - i'll confirm this later

i only know it as a lightning model, i didnt realise that the lightning came is so many different forms! i'll see if i can find a serial number on it for you

    is it the XL?
The shorter barrel could be a problem for my younger son. He is 12.

i dont think so, at least by the pictures. might be the SE?
it has the same stock as the BSA supersport, interals are all different (more powerful than the supersport)

i'd its not dissimiliar to loading any normal air rifle, easy to hold due to the silencer width, and maybe slightly heavier to cock.

i think you'd have to try it yourself to see?
at 12 it might be a bit heavy, but i suspect he should be able to.
    strong lad?

My one son is 11 years old and one of his airrifles is the same as this... He shoots easily with it...
Some useful info... Stay away from steel pellets... And stay away from the "normal" pellets...
If you want accuracy, look at the Diabolo pellets... Weighted and hand sorted... Cost a few bucks more but well worth it.
I sent this particular BSA in for a conversion, fitting it with gasram and "Old Van" trigger, meaning smooth shots without straining your finger on the trigger...
Good, reliable rifle though, unless you want Weirach, my old time favorate... Look at the HW97K, just note, too heavy for kids but perfect for you
