mmm, judging by your rocks your tank is not that old.. How old is the tank?
Usually diatoms occur in a new setup

To start off what lights are you using? If T5 or MH when last were the globes replaced? What are your nitrate and phosphate readings?

Maybe shorten your lighting period an cut down on feeding.

Diatom blooms in an established tank could be due to a few reasons, any changes or additions made to the tank, a slow build up of Nitrates and Phosphates, insufficient flow, new lighting etc.

Are you topping up with RO water? If so do you know what the TDS is? Do you have any Nitrate or Phosphate readings?
