The resolution is also good. From 0.00 to 2.5 ppm. The nitrate test is also good with extremely low resolution.

Its going to be pricey though! Probably just under R1000 per tester :(

it isnt on their website, i emailed them, the first reply i got was for 5000 rand but that was one of the big units, so i asked for the pocket testers.

Because it is a hanna branch they must be able to get anything the others have.

I've heard the alk checker was pretty lousy. What was your experience, preshan?

Just go to Hanna.co.za and mail them. The item isn't on their web site but I have seen the quote from Johan. The meter works out to about R644-00 with VAT and is a once off expense. The test reagents are R82-08 for 25 tests and you just need to buy those once they are finished which works out to about R184-00 for 50 tests, a whole lot cheaper and more accurate than our titration tests

Apparently, these things are not as accurate as they are made out to be. I was looking at them a while ago, but the response to them has not been that great. I'm sure the SARK shop was getting them and pulled out of the deal because of this...

    Just something to think about.

I don't know about cheaper. I can pick up a Salifert alkalinity test kit for around R80, and it gives me 100-200 tests. That's around a quarter to an eighth of the price of a Hanna test.

pretty easy takes about 3 steps , you clear the meter with standard tank water sample , add the reagent and press the button and wait for the reading.

this was on the phosphate checker.

The old reagent didnt work well its since been replaced with better reagents.

they work hard at fixing their problems and they are working on a color coding for all the units we can use in aquariums. with a cool little box etc.
