Ok so I have a Bryopsis problem and I am trying to get my Magnesium up at 1600ppm, my question is this, I am using Brightwell Magnesion-P, is it normal for the solution to get very hot when mixed with RO water?

Intesting question Magnesion P has Magnesium Chloride and Sulphate.
Magnesium Suplhate is and endothermic reaction (Just Absorbs water) and Chloride exothermic . They should balance eachother but the Chloride reaction releases more energy (Heat ) therefore you have what you have noticed ! Hence Magnesium Chloride is a de-Icing agent Used on roads in the winter to remove ice.

Ive tried all forms of magnesium to get rid of bryopsis and none worked. Everyone says that the only way to do it is with Kent Tech Magnesium. Something in it has the desired effect. Finally got my hands on some last week after waiting for a few months. Will see how it goes

It does get very hot. Only mix in a thick plastic container.

Ive also tried to up the mg to 1600 on my tank with another brand of mg.It slowed the growth of bryopsis but its still there. Im waiting for my mg levels to drop a little and then like @crispin ,use Kent tech mg and raise my mg to above 1600 when I get my hands on some. Hope it will work.
