Let the fun and games begin.

I have just recently purchased a piece of land in Sunset Beach and I am going to start building as soon as plans are approved (Getting Submitted beginning July:))
Part of the submission is gonna be my new tank:
    Marine Aquariums South Africa

This is the designed area for it.

Bit of info on the Build:

    1500 x 1200 x 750 (650 water height) DT water volume 1170L

Stand is going to be built in Concrete Brick and steel and Glass Panels are going to be placed on top of base that will be fibre glassed and base shaped and sprinkled with aragonite ( basically a natural looking bare bottom)

    Marine Aquariums South Africa

Also instead of making the 3 glass panels end at the overflow side panel (also Brickwork fibre glassed) I have recessed the wall by 300mm wide so I can have all wave pumps and in tank equip hidden:biggrin:

That is a fantastic size! Why not go for 2m long :tt2:

    Looking forward to the build!

In the words of Borat 'Wawaweewa'. That is one huge tank, you will have to get in it to get to the back of it!

    Hi
    Great ideas there!
I also just purchased a plot in Sunset Beach and about to build........so I guess we gonna be neighbors :)
I built a 5000 liter structure in one of my previous houses a few years back, very similar to your design.
Just a word of advise,I would do the structure complete in glass so should you decide to change sizes or move house in the future you are flexible...my regret when I did mine was having to leave my tank behind when I sold...Give me a shout if you need any tips on construction or design...

Now that's a great idea! Will definitely be tagging for this one!
Agree with riaan, you need to get it on 3d cad to really see what its going to look like! Should be rather cool though...
When are you going to start construction of your new house?

and after every reef discussion you change your mind...

Anyway, due to the window into your tank from the fishroom, you would only have one wall available to put things against. Room looks like a 2m by 2m room (well one side is short by 30cm) So it should give you enough space to move in.

I would drop the little passage between the new storage room and fish room. With door into garage from the fishroom. Will not give you extra floorspace as such, but you got then the head space above the door and passage that can be used for shelving. I would place shelving high up against the wall to the storeroom, and along the wall to the garage. 5m in rack space. Nice place to put those empty white 20L drums. And it will make the room 2 by 3m, feeling a lot bigger.

Isnt this a little overkill for a few goldfish and a guppy?

:) Nice One Brent, subscribed man!

    Hey Riaan,
I've worked out a lot of stuff that can go into a 2M x 2M aquarium room.
Need the storage space other side, and door has to be on the side, also need direct access from the garage to the scullery.
I have a lot of wall space to use.
Will post Aquarium room design tonight, have to just change a few things, you will see I have allowed for everything except an exclusive snail breeding tank;)
    2x Guppies dammit
