Hi Guys. I have two branching hammer colonies and I have noticed on the side of the branches where the coral attaches to the skeleton there are mini versions of the coral around the circumference of the skeleton. This looks to me like the coral is reproducing as one which is about 4mm in length has tentacles.

Is this normal for the coral?

I will try and take a pic but I have a difficuilt macro lens to work with and I would have to turn the coral to get a good pic of the mini coral.

sound like it is reproducing, but thought they normally "split" their heads?

Ya it looks like little babies sprouting out perpendicular to the coral base which I have never seen it do.

Tony, I was at Mooli'ss spot this morning and his hammers are doing the same, but 4/5 per coral, he says they grow into new branches and can be easily fragged.
