Hi,

My CA was very low but after adding in a CA sup it is now apparently at 470.

I am really battling with understanding the red sea test kit and shall go in later to a LFS to do a full water count.

My lights are on from 12 to 9pm

Have a look at this thread as it sounds like you may have a similar problem:
Plleeease help!! Open plate brain coral - Marine Aquariums South Africa
When you refer to the tree coral, are you referring to the hammer or another?

Can you provide the following information:
1. How old is your tank including lighting used?
2. How old is that coral? Are you feeding it anything?
3. What are your parameter readings (Ca, Mg, Alk)?
4. What are your nutrient readings (NO3 and PO4)?

Good luck! :)

Ca and mg are linked so if mg is low it will effect the ca. You should test both.
I used to add tons of ca powder and it never brought my levels up. When I balance my mg the ca balanced its self pretty quickly

Hi guys,

I am gona try to feedback to each off you:

Silverwolf: I am using the standard red sea lights 2 x 55w T5. How long do you suggest I leave the lights on?

Tekkengal: I am referring to the small stick like brown tree, unsure of its name.
The tank is 2 years old I bought it a month back and the lights are about 4 months old.
Not sure how old is the coral but it should be under 2 years old. I am using reef snow.
CA = 420
MG = 1000
KH = 10Kd
PO4 = 0
NO3 = 0.00
these values were checked today after a 10 liter water change.
Hammer: Thank you noted, what times do you suggest on the lights.

PH=8.2
an interesting point, last night for the first time I saw tenticles protruding my brain :m03:
