Hi guys bought a brain coral last weekend was fine until yesterday when the power went of for 4 and a half hours. I just want to know it looks bleached and its hard,is it dead and was it because power was off for so long?because the temp only fell by 1-2 degrees in that time,

I have some zoas, polyps, kenia tree and torch coral and they seem to be fine, any advise on what could have effected this?

Can you post a pic of it.

Doubt a four hour power failure would be the cause of its death (if it is dead).

I don't have a camera at the moment, its like a bleak colour and its not as soft as when I bought it,it is hard,

Is it normal for a brain coral to do it

Does it still have tissue or is it bare skeleton?

What colour was it when you got it? Has it slowly been deteriorating over the week or was it a sudden change?

Doesn't your cellphone have a camera? Try to post a pic, it is very difficult to guess what it looks like and to see if something is wrong.

I zaped my aptazia and turned of all the pumps and forgot about it and went to work. I returned seven and a half hours later and nothing went wrong with my open brain or anny of my other corals or fish.

459b when you say bleached what do you mean? I have a green brain coral which died away in many spots and its skeleton started showing. I got new Geisman tubes and moved it closer to the surface and it looks alot better...see pic...

You can still see near the top where the skeleton came through.

Bleached as in lost colour. Can be casued by a few things, including too much light, temp spikes etc.
