So I have read through a hole bunch of posts and have not really come to a conclusion, wanting to hear what the experts think.

A 50 x 50 x 50 braceless cube made out of 10mm glass will it be strong enough or would bracing be needed?

    thanks

Would be fine , I normally just add bottom bracing , but I also build my tanks with the side panels on the outside of the bottom panel and not resting on top as this creates a much stronger bond

No , I have one in the shop (600 x 500 x 500) , no bottom bracing , no issues. A lot depends on your silicone skills ;)

that is what is worring me. looks can be deceptive. silicone might look good but the proof is in the pudding

I have a 600 x 600 10mm glass cube without bracing, so far so good!
I also have a HOB skimmer hanging off the back pane.
