I need your expert advice. A certain guy gave me a quote to build my first marine tank. The tank will be 1.5x.5x.5
He sugest that the skimmer I must use should be a Boyu DG1516.

Your thoughts please. Is this a good skimmer?? The price is fantastic!! R700.00

I dont think it is a very effective skimmer - You get what you pay for and I would suggest a Reef Octopus orca 100 for your tank size - They sell for about R2200
Check the classifieds on the forum for any skimmers - Try to get one that is rated for double ur tank volume. If you gonna have a high fish load and coral then get the best skimmer you can afford. Check out Dorry Pets website for more info on skimmers!

I agree, not a good skimmer in my opinion - if you cannot afford a more expensive skimmer, then rather see if you can get a secondhand Reeftek TS2. They go secondhand for about R800 - R1500 and is rated for 750litres. It will be perfect for your tank as it is about 400l with the sump. I ran my 500l setup with a TS2 - and it did a great job ;)
