    Hey everyone,

Just thought I would post some pics of my latest coral addition. It's blue xenia, a nice big piece. Here are the pics right after putting it in my tank:

It is a lot more blue in real life, the photo doesn't show its true colour...

I bought it to frag. So there will be plenty of frags available in a week or two. They grow so fast so I'm just keeping 1 frag for myself...

Have you kept and fraged the Kenya blue Xenia before?

@Manic the "Cespitularia infirmata" Kenya blue Xenia ships very badly and is best left to experienced reefers. Imported colonies will at first show signs of adaptation to the aquarium but will then rapidly recede. Sometimes one is lucky and small fragments survive and then a new colony is formed. These colonies grow at a very quick rate under the right conditions. If you manage to get a colony going they are relatively easy to frag and the frags easy to maintain. I suggest you look up the species and it's care urgently. In my reef keeping experience i have only seen a dozen or so successes with the imported colonies. Please keep records and daily pics should you be successful.
I sincerely hope that you are successfully.

BTW while it looks like a Xenia it is not.

Thanks for the advise. I already researched it before I bought it. The way I bought the coral there were three pieces barely attached to each other. So I fragged the three pieces and put a piece in each one of my tanks. Hopefully I will have some success as all three tanks have different lighting, flow and to some extent different water parameters. Hopefully by putting a piece in each tank, I'll have a better chance of success...

Some pic's of the coral as of today. Hope it is not like Nemos Janitor said:

All looks good today though. Just love the blue aura it seems to have:

This stuff is even more awesome when seen from the top. It has a blue sheen with orange flashes. Just watch out that it doesn't overrun your tank. It's also very passive in that it doesn't seem to sting anything it comes into contact with.

It looks so cool from above. Mine looks like your second pic, but not the first one. I've seen that it looks like it has glitter in it. Really cool coral, hope it doesn't die, I know they have a bad import record but this one looks good...
