Ribbon eels are better suited to have their own tank.

Which other fish do you plan to keep with them?

I doubt it a lionfish and a ribbon eel should be in the same tank.

Lionfish will outgrow your tank anyway.

What are your concerns? Do you think the ribbon will have a go at the Lion fish?

I am aware of that. That is why I am going for the two smaller species. The Dwarf and the Fu Manchu.

Ribbon for me is far too fragile to be in a tank with those spines.

Lions needs tanks with good strong internal flow. Ribbon eels cannot handle that flow.

Reason for the flow is to be able to keep rubbish in suspension until it can go over the overflow to your oversize filtration system. Note that predators tends to be messy eaters and when feeding hake you do waste a lot of food. Predator system filtration needs to be able to handle that extra bio-load.

Ribbon eels are beautiful, but I will not keep it in a heavy flow tank. Sooner or later it will get stung, or it will meet up with a strong powerhead.

I agree with Riaan, the ribbons will get stung sooner or later.

The are very peaceful animals and other preds will stress them.
They will then spend allot of time in hiding, and that is the last thing you want with ribbons.

You want to display them in the open as much as possible.

I'm glad you see the importance of ribbons and their own tank!
