    Hi Sara,

Would you be able to tell if my coral is spawning? my params are all in check, salinity @ 1025, and i feed him cyclopese and had him now for 3 weeks, all other livestock is great. i have noticed that each head got a mucus covering then was released about hour or 2 after, all the heads have been release and sticking to rocks etc

    thanks
    Dallas

That's actually not a coral, it's a tunicate... and it's probably dying. Sorry to say... :(

That may be true and all... but I still think it, while that may be what it's doing, this could still be a stress response. Most of what I've read is that these things don't generally do well in captivity. These shedding and spawning things that corals and other marine inverts do in captivity can either be a good sign or a bad sign, and I think it's nearly impossible to tell when it's one or the other.

Sorry if I'm being a buzz kill... but I could be quite wrong. Everyone told me that my Christmas tree worms wouldn't live more than a few months, but they ended up hanging in there for over two years. So I suppose time will tell. I do hope the OP will keep us all updated on how this colony does over the next several months.
