I was just thinking. Has anyone put a blue backing in their tank. Wouldn't it give the tank a brighter look to it?

My last tank had a blue background. I like it. But if you not planning on keeping the back glass clean then go with black IMO.

That looks awesome. I really like the blue back but I have a boyu 550 so I was thinking of buying blue Perspex and putting it at the back and then I can also take it out and clean it. Will Perspex be OK in the tank?

Ya Perspex is fine in a tank. How do you plan on holding it on the back? It does tend to warp in the tank if its not stuck on but the piece you will need is small so it should be fine.

I was thinking of sliding it along the back and securing it with rocks in the bottom corners and clips at the top. What would you suggest?

I did mine like that  worked well. Detritus started collecting behind it after a while though. But If you plan on removing it regularly to clean it that then shouldn't be a problem.

    I prefer black.

Although blue gives a lot better fish pictures. But for that you do need to clean the back panel as well. Just that more maintenance. I rather let the snails eat the algae growth on the back panel.

    But your tank, your decision.
