    Hi guys

I have a question regarding Blonde naso tangs..lately, i have spoken to a few fish keepers and read on few forums about people struggling to keep blonde nasos long term..

I have lost two in last few months, both being healthy initially and then suddenly just wasting away and dying despite having been feeding well.

I have purchased a third naso (btw all three are from different suppliers so dont think i can blame LFS for anything) which is really eating nori very well but is not taking any other foods. I have noticed a decrease in body mass after few weeks despite feeding two or three times a day. nori is soaked in metronidazole and alternated with nori soaked in Niclosamide (another dewormer), but it does not seem to be working.

all three blonde nasos were between 9cm-13cm and were not bullied by any tankmates.

other fish (including a fat healthy orange shoulder tang and regal tang) are fed on foods including mysis, frozen brine shrimp, angelfish mix, ocean nutrition formula1, reef prime and my own frozen mix of shrimp, spirulina, peas and garlic with vitamin C.

My tank is doing well and all other fish are fat and feeding. I am only having a problem with blonde nasos. Now if i was the only one i would be worried about something that i am doing wrong..but have spoken to a few people who have had problems with them lately..has there been a change in the way the fish are being collected??

I have kept nasos succesfully a few years back but am really scratching my head here..if i lose this one i wont be buying another one, even tho i really like them.:banghead:

any suggestions on best way forward..

I got mine now for 4 years. happy, grew from 5cm to a big boy.

The nori you give, where do you get it from.
cooked nori from the local Chinese shop is no good. Lost a lot of the nutritional value due to being cooked. Roasted is better but still not 100%. But at least a lot cheaper.

    Raw is the best.

Dude i will agree, I had a blonde naso and one day it just pegged was fat and healthy and eating well. All the other tangs were 100% with no issues. Could possible be cyanide

How long ago was this? This seems to be a recent trend, and I also had cyanide in mind because they're not responding to treatments for internal parasites (both praziquantel and metronidazole with Seachem Focus in the food).

Yip the morning before it died. Breathed rapidly 9am, could have started night before. By lunch time he was gone.

No signs of external parasites. Just listlessness (no doubt from lack of nutrition) and weight loss.

Careful with this. The long strands can cause an issue if the fish gets greedy and doesnt eat properly. Cant remember who it was, but someone had a yellow tang die when it tried to eat a long strand and it ended up choking the fish.
