I don't know Burt, let's wait and see if anybody else knows. Is the fish still eating?

doubt its eggs, I've seen clowns that have laid eggs but weren't big like that, like Viper375 says, it sounds like bacterial or perhaps parasitical?

Burt - sometimes fish gets a condition where they cannot pass feces. This can cause this bloated stomach. Try and get the clownfish to feed on more veggie food. More than meaty foods. I think that this might be the case with your clownfish.

Good luck mate. I hope that this does not cause a lasting issue....

You can of course try and catch the clown, and put it in a quarantine/hospital tank - and then dose some fish meds - and some garlic...... and iodine..... personally, I think that these type of meds would work in resolving the issue your poor clown is experiencing...

The fish is not carrying eggs.

It's difficult to say with certainty, but I suspect that it could have an inflamed swim bladder. Of course it could also be dropsy, fish tuberculoses, or some other bacterial infection.

Try to look into it's mouth, if it is an inflamed swim bladder you should be able to see it - it looks like a thick, white or shiny tongue.

The bad news is that neither bacterial infections, TB or swim bladder disease can be readily cured, and is usually fatal. If possible, isolate the fish in a hospital tank, and drop the salinity down to around 1.012 - 1.015. Keep the temperature at 24° - 26°C, and observe the fish for the next 24 hours. If the swelling subsides, then good - if not, it is highly unlikely that the fish will be able to eat, and it will probably starve to death. If this is the case, I would recommend euthanasia.

Could this not just be excess air from when feeding flake food on the surface?

This is likely due to bacterial infection/worm infestation of sorts i recommend feeding it antibiotic soaked food for 3-4 days at least , the swelling is often due to a build up of fluid in the peritoneal cavity.

The only reason I'm not suspecting this (and I could be totally wrong) is that it's perfectly upright and doesn't appear to have any buoyancy troubles... as you'd expect with a swim bladder problem. But maybe it does and the pictures just aren't showing it.

Yup, that#s the trouble with trying to make a diagnoses with only a photo or two and a rather scant description - none of us can be anywhere near sure... frustrating, actually.
