Discovered this article from 1990 yesterday, funny to see how things have changed, yet stayed the same! This article shows that what was once seen as eccentric ideas in the times of wet/dry filters turned to become the norm eg, protein skimming, LR, the dripping of kalkwasser, adding of strontium etc. Imo this certainly makes for a interesting read.

Lovely article, does make you think.......Whats next?

Yip, things certainly have changed over the years. Makes you wonder if we have reached the optimal ideology in keeping tanks or is there still going to be more discoveries.

That is a wicked read.

I reckon the tech. will constantly evolve as the manufacturers have to aim for the low maintenance stony coral system, once they achieve this, sales will rocket, as the Nano revolution has changed this hobby, for good and/or bad.

The explanation of why Live Rock is so good and why wet/dry filters are nitrate factories is great. :thumbup1:

Just make sure you copy and paste this text on to white background, the green on black makes your eyes go weird
