    Hi guys

I am excited to inform you that I finally have a true Black Tang.(As far as I know the only one in South Africa)
He is about 8cm long, feeding on Formula 1 small pellots and Prime Reef flake. He is gorgeous and still very Juvi
I have him still in QT.
I will take a photo of him later.

beautiful same size as my hybrid rostratum/scopas but without the lines as you can see the snout only grows longer on both with age and it gets that silver sheen on the dorsal on later as well. I think the purer rostratum will have even a longer snout while my one is in between a scopa snout and a pure black tangs snout

Here is a pic of mine from the same angle and a side view as well

Lets have some more clear pics of different angles , pretty cool to see the difference in hybrid and pure rostratum - both are getting super rare however pure rostratum is getting only rarer!!!(they cant find mates so they breed with scopas) well done on getting the right size too! not dinner plate one's which are better left in the ocean to breed.

    scopas for comparison of lines

and even rarer a pure white zebrasoma flavescens (aberrant form)

with a name like "casper" it is special ;)

and Steven's fish will be like this when it is more mature

then u r the fifth!!! Not bad, at least 5 people having a black tang in SA, considering there are collected only near Hawaii making them even rarer than Gems!

Achilles, I understand that the 'pure black tang' is rarer however your hybrid is spectacular looking though!

Like you said if the yellow tang was as rare as the black... which one would you end up choosing if you could only have one? ;)

Still think from first glance that the Achilles Tang is of the most Eye Catching!
