Black Tang ID Please

Hi guys. My friend and I were at the beach last weekend and caught 2 of these black tangs. They are quite common and have seen quite a few in the rock pools. I couldn't really get a good pic cos he darts away everytime I try to take a pic. It is full black with a neon blue stripe at the end of the dorsal and anal fins. I will post a pic when i manage to take one.

yup sounds like a lavender tang ...

Thanks guys. I googled those names. The shape and fins of the fish in the image results are the same but the colours are not as dark as the one I have. This pic is terrible but you can see that the fish is completely black.

black could be stress related.

I doubt its stress. It has been in the tank for a week. A friend of mine also has one that we caught on the same day and it is the same colour.

take a bit pic so we can id it. its either the lavender tang or bristletooth tang (this one being very agro)

We get a few "black" tangs locally. Could be:

nigrofuscus
striatus (bristletooth)
tennenti
dussumeri

need a proper pic to do an id

Cant see properly , but body shape in the pic seems more like a black bean

Well I'd say the juvenile tennenti is the "blackest" of our local tangs
