I have a black surgeon fish that keeps on getting white spots on its body and tail fin. These white spots will appear and dissappear followed by black marks or spots which also goes away after a day or two. The fish does scratch itself against the substrate and rocks but eats well and does not show any signs of illness.
This morning I saw theat the spots are also on my clown fish. what can be done?

How big is your tank, what other livestock do you have, something other than water parameters might be stressing out the fish

My tank is 800l, 2m by 60cm by 50cm. One nemo, one blue damsel, one spotted hawkfish and a white eyed eel. they have all been together for the last 9 months.
I run a 60l sump with a scrubber filter and lots of cualerpa in the sump that i remove once a week to keep it growing. other than that I have only got live rock in the tank.

They will get white spot from time to time but as long as he shakes it off avery few days he should be OK and the spots aren't too many he should be OK. Feed him well with food soaked in vitamins and amino acids every few days and feed him more than once a day with high quality prepared and frozen food

Hi there i would say take your temp up to 27deg and slowly,i say slowly drop your salani to 1020 and if you got i uv will also help a bit lets say 4-6 hours a day only and add stability from seachem every day and feed some flake that contains garlic
